China has expanded its 15-day visa exemption program to six more European countries: Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg. From March 14 to November 30, 2024, travellers from these nations can enter China visa-free for up to 15 days, whether for business, tourism, or visiting family and friends. This initiative is part of China’s broader strategy to simplify entry processes for international visitors and enhance interpersonal exchanges with other nations.The extension of the visa-free policy is expected to significantly boost tourism by making it easier for European visitors to explore China’s rich cultural heritage and diverse landscapes. Effective from May 15, 2024, these tourists can enter China without a visa at any coastal cruise port, provided they stay with their cruise ship until it departs for the next port. They are allowed to explore designated areas for up to 15 days. This initiative aims to boost coastal tourism by making China’s picturesque coastal cities more accessible to international cruise travellers.
